Dear Comrade Tobias,

As we have been just informed by an e-mail coming from a local branch of WASG, the European Parliament removed for the first time in his history using scandalous arguments of political nature your parliamentary immunity.

Since our party and many people in Greece know and very high appreciate your consequent anti militarist, anti war, anti NATO and antifascist engagement, your continues struggles in defense of democratic rights as demonstrated by your very rich activities in the pace movement and expressed in many your statements in reference to the movements of the oppressed people in many countries, to the US bases and CIA flights, to the anticommunist PACE motion, to the solidarity campaign with KSM and many other occasions, we strongly protest this abusive and highly reactionary motivated move.

Please be sure on our solidarity and on our readiness to actively back any action you consider useful in order to counter this very dangerous treat against not only the progressive forces in Germany and in the European Parliament but more generally.

In this regard we would like to inform you that some of our comrades have endorsed the on-line solidarity petition.

Furthermore we would like to inform you that all our MEPs [Manolakou, Pafilis, Toussas] as well as all our comrades in the European Parliament, our national parliamentary group, the party’s newspaper, radio and TV are at your disposition for an, as much as possible, large campaign of information and solidarity.
